Coronavirus impact: Mahindra Group to make ventilators at its facilities
With the coronavirus pandemic reaching a critical phase in its transmission in India, manufacturers have started to pitch in to manage the impending wave of hospitalizations, and the stress that this will place on our healthcare facilities. The Mahindra Group has taken the lead in this aspect, with chairman Anand Mahindra announcing that the company will immediately begin work to see how its facilities can be used to manufacturers ventilators.
Mahindra said in a tweet, "To help in the response to this unprecedented threat, we at the Mahindra Group will immediately begin work on how our manufacturing facilities can make ventilators. At Mahindra Holidays, we stand ready to offer our resorts as temporary care facilities."
With the COVID-19 disease inching towards the third stage of its transmission cycle in India with cases set to rise exponentially, the government has directed hospitals to ensure they have enough supply of critical car equipment in place to deal with the patients. The Mahindra Group will also offer its resorts as temporary healthcare facilities, and will help the government and army set up care facilities. Further, Anand Mahindra has also pledged to donate all of his salry to fund that will support small businesses and self-employed individuals affected by the crisis
