DSK Hyosung to launch GD250N and Aquila 250 in India in 2014

DSK Hyosung will launch two new 250cc motorcycles in India in 2014. The first will be the Aquila 250 cruiser which will be launched at the Auto Expo in February followed by an all-new 250cc street naked in April called the GD250N.

The GD250N will take on the KTM 200 and 390 Duke

The GD250N which looks similar to the KTM Duke series - only beefier â€" will sit between the 200 and the 390 Dukes both in terms of performance and pricing. We expect the GD to cost about Rs 1.6 lakh and it will be assembled in India. It gets a 249cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that produces a little over 28PS of max power. The gearbox is a six-speed unit. The GD250N sports cycle parts similar to the Duke as well. It gets upside down forks upfront and a monoshock at the rear. The chassis is a diamond type tubular frame with an alloy swingarm and the GD250N runs on 17-inch tubeless rubber as well. It does additionally get single petal-type disc brakes at both ends.

The Aquila 250 will have a 27PS engine

The Aquila 250 meanwhile is powered by a 249cc, oil cooled, V-twin and has a max power output rating of 27PS. It uses a regular cradle type frame suspended on telescopic forks upfront and regular coil over hydraulic dampers at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a large single disc upfront and a drum at the rear. The seating ergonomics of the Aquila is typically cruiser like with high handlebars, low seat height and forward set footpegs. There's also a handsome dose of chrome all round. The Aquila 250 will cost over Rs 2 lakh as well.
