2019 Yamaha MT-15 Long Term Review: Fleet introduction at 4,300km

It is the most expensive 150cc naked motorcycle in the India market right now and to an extent, it justifies its price on paper. But living with it for the past month, I've realised how the uprated equipment on the MT-15 enhances the riding experience in the real world. But before we proceed, I should point out that our long-term MT-15 is a BSIV model, whereas the Japs have recently introduced the BSVI compliant version of the same which will soon go on sale.

The rest of the motorcycle will remain the same which is a downer, because the MT-15 has a few niggles. To begin with, the instrument cluster is set too low to be in the rider's field of vision. Adding to the cramped effect are the mirror stalks which could have offered a wider view of the rear if it were longer.

The instrument cluster is well-sorted but shows one piece of information at a time and the rider has to switch between the on-board clock and the odometer should he/she wish. Another aspect that's distracting, is the operation of the pass switch. Which is only a matter of getting used to but for the duration, it could get to one's head. But so far, loving the nippy little Yamaha which is surprisingly fuel-efficient as well.
