Why Maruti Suzuki's Smart Hybrid technology is a sensible choice

The oldest bit of wisdom is the most relevant in today's context - small things add up to make a big difference especially when striving to be more environmentally conscious. So, whether it's carpooling or switching off your car at traffic signals, it will eventually result in significant fuel savings over time. Another method (which our country's drivers are quite good at) is by going as slow as possible so as to put the least load on the engine, thus further saving fuel.

Of course, some of these methods aren't very convenient, and not really at the cutting edge of engineering either! In comes the SmartHybrid technology from Maruti Suzuki which uses an electric motor to supplement the internal combustion engine in the interest of saving fuel and cutting emissions.

Maruti Suzuki cars that come equipped with the Smart Hybrid technology are accessible, thereby allowing everyone to make a difference and help the cause of a sustainable environment.

How it works

The Maruti Suzuki Smart Hybrid system is primarily made up of an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and a market-first dual-battery setup. It has automatic engine stop/start functionality when the vehicle is stationary. The belt-driven ISG replaces a conventional alternator which is used to start the car's engine. Additionally, the ISG also has a motor function that supplements the engine's power output, thereby reducing the overall load on the engine. The dual-battery setup allows the car's electronics and blower to function without interruption whilst also allowing for much quicker response in a wider array of situations.
