First sightings of Hyundai's India-bound micro SUV

Hyundai's Tata Punch rival sub-four metre SUV has been spotted in South Korea for the first time. This much-awaited micro SUV is expected to feature a new language, a wide range of features, and a small displacement petrol engine borrowed from the on-sale models in India.

Hyundai's India-bound sub-four-metre SUV is likely to be a completely new product with a unique design language. It may also share some similarities with the Casper in terms of design that is available in some international markets. The exterior highlights of the SUV are expected to include a split headlight setup comprising project headlamps, a large grille, and chunky body cladding.

Inside, it is expected to get a dual-tone interior with artificial leather upholstery for the top-spec variants. Additionally, the micro SUV could feature a sizable touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, an analogue or semi-digital instrument cluster, a multifunctional leather-wrapped steering wheel, and so on.

The spy photos hint that the sub-four metre SUV is likely to be offered with an electric sunroof. Moreover, it might feature an electronic stability program, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake force distribution, dual airbags, a wireless charging pad, USB charging ports, cooled glove box, front centre armrest, cruise control, Hyundai BlueLink â€" a suite of connected car features with smartwatch connectivity, and engine start/stop switch, among others.

The new micro SUV may be powered by the existing 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine and 1.0-litre Turbo GDi petrol motor, producing 83PS/114Nm and 100PS/172Nm, respectively. Both units currently power the Grand i10 Nios and Aura. Further, Hyundai is expected to offer manual and automatic transmission options, while the iMT could also be on the cards.
