Force Gurkha to be unveiled in India on September 15
Force has confirmed that it will unveil its Gurkha SUV on September 15.
With a flurry of upgrades, the BS6 Gurkha was initially exhibited at the 2020 Auto Expo. With the transition to BS6 standards, the Force Gurkha has been extensively changed for 2021. Only the 2.6-litre turbo-diesel engine is still available. This engine is based on Mercedes-OM616 Benz's and produces 90PS and 260 Nm when paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
With this upgrade, the Gurkha's chassis has been extensively altered to meet the most recent safety requirements and to enhance both on and off-road performance. To a considerable extent, heavy-duty off-roading equipment has been carried through. A 4x4 system with a short-range transfer case, a stiff front axle, and locking differentials on both axles is therefore available.
The utilitarian dashboard has been replaced with a more modern design that includes a touchscreen entertainment system and a reversing camera. The air vents are rotating, and the instrumentation has been updated to accommodate a MID. A forward-facing bench has been installed in lieu of the now-illegal side-facing chairs at the back. Dual airbags, ABS, a speed warning function, and a seatbelt reminder are among the safety features. The top-of-the-line Xtreme model is also promised, featuring additional guard rails, a roof carrier, and a snorkel.
The upgraded Force Gurkha will compete with the new Mahindra Thar, however, we expect the Gurkha to considerably undercut the Mahindra because to the Mahindra's move upmarket. Ex-showroom, prices could start at approximately Rs 10 lakh. Another competitor is the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, which is expected to debut in India next year.
