Rugged Ford Ecosport Active revealed internationally
Ford has unveiled a new off-road-inspired version of the Ford Ecosport in certain European markets. Called the Ford Ecosport Active, this joins the international-spec Fiesta and Focus Active models. The Active suffix is a new nomenclature from Ford to denote slightly higher-riding, crossover variants of its regular cars.
In keeping with this theme, the Ford Ecosport Active gets a slightly raised ride height. Visual enhancements are the more rugged black cladding around the wheel arches and bumpers, a new look for the 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and Active badging. The black treatment to the roof, outer mirrors and grille have carried over from other variants of the Ecosport.
The Ecosport Active is based on the higher-trims of the international-spec Ecosport and comes with standard equipment like the 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto/Apple Carplay, auto headlamps, cruise control and a reverse parking camera. A unique upholstery pattern with contrasting blue stitching has also been added. As an option, buyers can choose the Active X pack, this adds a Bang and Olufsen sound system, keyless entry and go and auto-folding outer mirrors. Further options include a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems, projector headlamps and so on.
The Ecosport Active is available with the familiar 1.0-litre Ecoboost turbo-petrol, now discontinued in India after the BSVI switchover. This motor puts out 125PS and 200 Nm and is paired with a six-speed manual. There is no word yet on the Ecopsort Active's India debut, although it could be a great move to help the Ecosport stand out in a very competitive segment.
