Fronx based Toyota Taisor teased ahead of April 3 launch
Toyota has already confirmed the debut of a sub-4m crossover based on the Maruti Fronx, which is expected to be titled Urban Cruiser Taisor, according to the trademark registered by Toyota. The brand has now teased the car on its official website as well as social media platforms ahead of its debut on April 3. The price announcement and deliveries are set to take in the months to follow.
The Taisor is expected to offer the same powertrain options as the Maruti Fronx. This includes a choice between a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine generating 100PS and 148Nm of torque, and a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 90PS and 113Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a five-speed manual, a five-speed AMT, and a six-speed torque converter automatic.
Toyota Taisor: ExteriorThe Toyota Taisor teased has a reddish-orange shade and features new LED DRLs which are inspired by the Urban Crusir Hyryder. To distinguish itself from its Maruti equivalent, the Taisor will sport a different texture for the front grille, reworked front and back bumper, and reshaped LED headlights.
In addition, we see the linked LED tail lights at the back, which have a distinct theme. We also expect some slightly different designs for the 16-inch alloy wheels.
Toyota Taisor: Interior and FeaturesInside the cabin, the layout is likely to remain similar to the Fronx, albeit with Toyota branding on the steering wheel and an updated user interface for the touchscreen infotainment system. The Taisor may feature a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, an analogue instrument cluster with a colour MID, keyless entry with push-button start, and possibly new upholstery.
In terms of features, expect the Toyota Taisor to offer LED headlights, cruise control, 360-degree camera, heads-up display, six airbags, ESP, auto-dimming IRVM, a six-speaker sound system, built-in voice assistant, connected car tech, hill hold assist, and USB Type-C and Type-A ports, among others.
We anticipate the Toyota Taisor to cost between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with other sub-4m SUVs such as the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and Mahindra XUV300.
