GM to recall 1.14 lakh Taveras for emission issues
General Motors India has announced a voluntary recall of its Multi-Utility Vehicle (MUV), the Chevrolet Tavera.
In one of the largest ever recalls, GM will call back 1.14 lakh Taveras manufactured between 2005 and 2013, both BS-3 2.5L and BS-4 2L models, to address emission and compliance issues. GM will notify customers how and when to bring in their vehicles for rectification. The affected units will be repaired free of charge at the 280 dealerships across India.
"After the proposed solution receives approval from authorities, General Motors will resume Tavera production and sale, and move forward with its recall and customer notification plan for both the BSIII and BSIV models," the company said. GM had informed the government of an emissions issue and stopped production and sale of the Tavera BS-3 on June 4 and the Tavera BS-4 on July 2.
According to the company, the issues are not safety-related and that it will perform the required engineering validation on getting the appropriate regulatory approvals.

Currently production of the diesel variants of the Sail U-VA and Sail have been suspended along with the Tavera.
