Green Car Award 2025 by ICOTY
The ICOTY is the most prestigious automotive award in India and the winners have been selected by 20 decorated judges representing esteemed publications which also include Kranti Sambhav, Editor at OVERDRIVE and Rohit Paradkar, Assistant Editor at OVERDRIVE. The panel consist of seasoned experts from esteemed publications that will evaluate the nominations on the basis of key factors such as performance, practicality, frugality, and safety to name a few.
Every year the ICOTY jury picks out eight contenders in each of the categories. This year's nominees for the Green Car Award 2025 were - Tata Punch EV, MG Windsor, Tata Curvv EV, BYD eMax 7, BYD Seal, Mini Countryman EV, BMW i5, Mercedes EQS SUV, and the Mercedes EQS Maybach.
The winner of this year's Green Car Award 2025 is the MG Windsor.
MG launched the Windsor at a very attractive price of Rs 9.99 lakh for the base model and the battery is offered as rental from the company. It houses a 38-kWh battery that makes 136 PS and 200 Nm of peak torque. It also gets a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that can be customised for a vertical or horizontal position.
Noteworthy mentions include 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 8.8-inch digital dash, 256-colour ambient lighting, ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, ESC and six-airbags to name a few.
The first runner up for this category was the BMW i5 and the second runner up was the BYD Seal.
