Harley-Davidsons recalled for defective clutch
Harley-Davidson has just issued a recall for close to 27,000 motorcycles that have been manufactured in 2016 to fix an issue with their clutch. The affected models include Electric Glide Ultra Classic (FLHTCU), Electra Glide Ultra Classic Low (FLHTCUL), Ultra Limited Low (FLHTKL), Ultra Limited (FLHTK), CVO Street Glide (FLHXSE), Street Glide (FLHX), Street Glide Special (FLHXS), Road Glide Special (FLTRXS), Road Glide (FLTRX), Police Electra Glide (FLHTP), Road Glide Ultra (FLTRU), Fat Boy S (FLSTFBS), Softail Slim S (FLSS) and CVO Softail Pro Street Breakout (FXSE).
The recall is thanks to a faulty clutch master cylinder. The faulty cylinder might not be able to fully disengage the clutch. This is a potentially dangerous situation as a partially engaged clutch will not allow the motorcycle to come to a complete stop and might also cause it to move unexpectedly. The fix will be to flush the entire clutch assembly and rebuild it again. H-D will be doing this free of cost and the owners of the affected motorcycles will be receiving calls soon.
A Harley-Davidson India representative told us that the motorcycles that have come to India have not been affected by this recall.
