Hero Xtreme 200S: image gallery
The Hero Xtreme 200S is the fourth motorcycle in the manufacturer's premium product line-up, after the Xtreme 200R, XPulse 200 and XPulse 200T. Needless to say, the Xtreme 200S uses the same powertrain as its siblings, in the exact same state of tune, but is a fully-faired version of the 200R and also uses the exact same underpinnings, including an identical chassis and the same suspension, albeit in a slightly different state of tune. It's interesting to see how Hero MotoCorp has created four completely different motorcycles using the same powertrain and cycle parts, though I have to mention that the Xtreme 200S is special in its own way, being a fully-faired motorcycle, a form that Indian motorcycle buyers absolutely love. Here's a look at the motorcycle through an image gallery.
The Hero Xtreme 200S is being pegged as the Karizma's spiritual successor and is a 200cc, fully-faired motorcycle based on the Xtreme 200R naked
A major talking point about the Hero Xtreme 200S is its design, which makes for a very distinctive appearance, thanks to the sleek-looking all-LED headlamp unit. Hero has also consciously avoided using too many stickers on the motorcycle to offer a clean look and the only decals you see on the bike are the ones on the sides of the fairing with the name of the motorcycle
The rear end of the Hero Xtreme 200S looks similar to the Xtreme 200R's, though the exhaust is the newly designed unit also seen on the Hero XPulse 200T. The rear looks particularly clean and upmarket thanks to the employment of a monoshock, which itself sits hidden inside the body work
The alloy wheels on the Hero Xtreme 200S are the same as the Xtreme 200R and interestingly, Hero MotoCorp has equipped the motorcycle with single channel ABS which works on the front wheel only
The handlebar on the Hero Xtreme 200S is the same as the Xtreme 200R again and while many might want to argue it looks tall for a faired motorcycle visually, but the handlebar does make for comfortable ergonomics
The Hero Xtreme 200S is on offer with a carburettor only, for now at least. There is no confirmation yet but we expect the Xtreme 200S to be equipped with a fuel injection system in future
The 200cc, single cylinder engine powering the Hero Xtreme 200S is in the same state of tune as the other motorcycle in the stable, including the Xtreme 200R, XPulse 200 and XPulse 200T and offers the same 18.4PS and 17.1Nm
The windscreen on the Hero Xtreme 200S might look small but provides adequate wind protection, in keeping with the bike's speedometer-displayed top speed of around 120kmph
The fully-digital instrument cluster on the Hero Xtreme 200S offers lots of information and also integrates a dedicated display on the side for Bluetooth connectivity and turn by turn navigation, making it the third motorcycle in Hero MotoCorp's line-up to offer the technology after the XPulse 200 and XPulse 200T
The Hero Xtreme 200S handles well around corners, as we found out during the media ride at the Buddh International Circuit, as the suspension offers good damping while also ensuring the motorcycle feels stable even when leaned over fully
Priced at Rs 98,500 ex-showroom, the Hero Xtreme 200S makes a strong case for itself as a fully-faired 200cc motorcycle with decent performance and likeable handling, especially since it is priced at under a lakh rupees, ex-showroom at least, which usually is a mental barrier for a lot of buyers
