2018 Honda Activa 5G scooter launched in India at Rs 52,460
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the 2018 Honda Activa 5G in India at a price of Rs 52,460 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the standard (STD) variant. The price is just Rs 1,000 more than the previous gen Honda Activa 4G. Honda has also introduced a more premium Activa 5G DLX variant for the scooter at a price of Rs 54,325 (ex-showroom, Delhi). HMSI had debuted the fifth generation of the Honda Activa, the most popular scooter in the country, at the recent Auto Expo 2018. The Honda Activa 5G is a minor facelift and has no significant upgrades to the already successful design and mechanicals of its predecessor. The Honda Activa 5G STD features a segment-first full LED headlamp unit, with a position lamp. It also has some chrome garnish on the front apron.
The DLX variant meanwhile adds more modern features including digital-analog instrumentation display, with Eco Speed indicator and service-due indicator. The Activa 5G also receives a front hook, lock with seat-opener switch as seen on the more premium Honda Grazia, and a metal muffler protector. The 5G has two new paint options, Dazzle Yellow Metallic, and Pearl Spartan Red, in addition to the existing six options âÂ" Black, Trance Blue Metallic, Matte Axis Grey Metallic, Pearl Amazing White, Majestic Brown Metallic, and Matte Selene Silver Metallic. Honda has discontinued the Imperial Red Majetic colour option with the Activa 5G.
Honda states that bookings have already begun across dealership in the country for the scooter that occupies a lion's share of the scooters upto 110cc segment. Deliveries are expected to begin in the coming week. The Honda Activa 5G continues to be powered by the same 109cc air-cooled single cylinder motor with HET from its predecessor, which produces 8.1PS and 8.8NM. The Honda Activa competes with the TVS Jupiter, and Hero Maestro Edge in its segment.
