Honda BR-V accumulates 10,000 bookings in India
Honda Car India launched its premium compact SUV BR-V on May 5 and it has already surpassed 10,000 bookings. Honda claims that the compact SUV segment grew by more than 40 per cent last year and evolving customer traits and increasing aspirations has led to their success.
The Honda BR-V comes in both diesel and petrol avatars. The two engine options are a 1.5-litre petrol which produces 119PS and 145Nm and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel which produces 100PS and 200Nm, both mated to a six speed manual gearbox. There is also a CVT with paddle shifters on offer on the petrol. Dual SRS airbags are standard across the whole range and to further lure customers, Honda is even offering a 3 year unlimited km warranty policy on the BR-V.
These booking figures translate into a two month waiting period for the petrol automatic, one and a half month for the petrol manual and one month for the diesel manual in Mumbai.
In our test we found out that the diesel mill on the BR-V is not the most refined or powerful in its class. Though the good looks and option to seat seven do land it some brownie points. Starting at Rs 8.75 lakh, the Honda BR-V faces competition against the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
