Honda CB 200R could be launched in India on August 27
Honda 2 Wheeler India is planning to launch a new motorcycle in the country on August 27th. It has already started teasing it on the official social platforms. The company has sent out an official invitation to the digital launch, which shows the USD forks side profile of the raked headlight and the tank extension. This could be that of the CB 200R, which is the replacement of the CB160R in India. Honda sells the same motorcycle in the international markets as the CB190R.
The overall styling, in terms of silhouette, could be inspired by the CB 190R, which will give the CB 200R a muscular stance with a sculpted fuel tank, LED headlight, sharp tank extensions, golden upside-down forks and a two-piece seat. The instrumentation could be an LCD unit as seen in the more premium CB300R. Further, it will ride on multi-spoke alloy wheels. We believe styling to be a major highlight of the CB Hornet 200R, to make it compete with the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar NS200, and the TVS Apache RTR 200.
Powering the Honda CB 200R will be a single-cylinder 184.4cc motor, that puts out 15PS of power at 8,000rpm and generates 15.3 Nm at 7,000rpm. The engine has a compression ratio of 9.5 and is mated with a 5-speed gearbox. However, this motor is Euro3 compliant. The state of tune could be altered when launched in India. For reference sake, the 197.75cc unit in the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V makes 20.5 PS at 8,500rpm and generates 16.8 Nm at 7,500 rpm whereas the 199.5 cc engine of the Pulsar NS200 puts out 24.5PS at 9,750rpm and makes 18.5PS at 8,000rpm.
The Honda CB190 is offered with 110/70R17(F) and 140/70R 17(R) tyres. and has a kerb weight of 140kg. The Honda CB 190R could be priced competitively below Rs. 1.5 lakh, ex-showroom.
