Honda CB200X launched at Rs 1.44 lakh

After putting out teasers of the motorcycle last month, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has launched its first small-capacity adventure bike, the CB200X, in India at the price of Rs 1,44,500 (ex-showroom, Gurugram)

The Honda CB200X is heavily based on the Honda Hornet 2.0 and gets the same 184.4cc, single-cylinder engine, and produces an identical 17PS of peak power and 16Nm of peak torque. Like the Hornet 2.0, the new bike also gets the same 5-speed gearbox and although Honda have simply mentioned that the CB200X comes with a telescopic fork up front and a monoshock at the rear with petal discs on both ends, we're pretty sure that they've been lifted out of the Hornet 2.0's parts bin as well.

In terms of styling, the CB200X's design appears to have drawn inspiration from the bigger CB500X while it basically appears to be a Honda Hornet 2.0 in disguise. In terms of features, the CB200X gets all-LED lighting (which are very Hornet-ish) but gets a windscreen that sits atop it, indicators on its nuckleguards, a belly pan and its dual-purpose tyres. The all-digital instrumentation display is lifted off the Hornet as well.

Weighing in at 147kg, the CB200X is around 5kg heavier than the bike it's based on. Seat height is at 810mm while ground clearance of 167mm is the same as the Hornet 2.0.

At Rs 1.44 lakh, the Honda CB200X is around Rs 15,000 costlier than the Hornet 2.0. It would basically appear that the additional panels and other cosmetic bits are what you'll be paying for.

Although the closest rival to the CB200X should be the Hero Xpulse 200, in terms of off-road capability both will vary vastly.

You can book your CB 200X from today for Rs 2,000.
