Honda CBR650R bookings open in India, to be priced under Rs 8 lakh
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. today announced the starting of bookings for the 2019 CBR650R in India. The company mentions that the booking amount for the 2019 CBR 650R has been kept at Rs 15,000 across all the Honda Wing World dealerships located across 22 cities in India. The all-new Honda CBR 650R is a global replacement of the CBR 650F. Similar to the recently launched Honda CB 300R, the CBR 650R will be brought into the country through the CKD route. Most importantly, Honda also announced that the 2019 CBR 650R will be priced below Rs 8 lakh, ex-showroom.
Showcased at the EICMA 2018, the all-new CBR 650R comes equipped with a 649cc liquid cooled four-cylinder, DOHC 16-valve engine. This motor produces an impressive 95PS at 12,000rpm and generates 64Nm at 8,500rpm. Compared to the CBR 650F, that is an increment of 5 per cent. Honda also mentions that special attention has been given to the way the engine sounds that now produces a more sporty note compared to the previous. The 2019 Honda CBR 650R comes equipped with assist/slipper clutch and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) that maintains rear wheel traction and can be switched off whenever needed. The chassis design too has been updated that made the overall bike lighter by 6kg. It also comes with new, adjustable 41 mm Showa Separate Fork Function (SFF) USD forks that offer superior suspension response. Doing braking duties is the dual-channel ABS setup with dual radial-mount calipers on the front and a single-piston rear caliper.
While the outgoing Honda CBR 650F was considered to have an understated and simple design, the 2019 CBR 650R takes its styling cues from the more aggressive and sharper all-new Fireblade. This can be seen with the sharp lines running all over the side fairings and on the short rear section. It gets all-LED lighting with a narrow dual setup similar to that of the Fireblade. It also gets a digital LCD display, handlebars clip-on below the top yoke and the instruments feature a gear position and shift up indicator.
Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd said, "Less than 2 weeks after the national launch of CB300R, Honda is proud to unleash its second global blockbuster in the middle-weight segment under the Silver Wing-mark umbrella. After the 2019 global fun model line-up unveil in EICMA, Honda has now opened bookings for its new middle-weight sports machine CBR650R in India too. With an aggressive Fireblade inspired bodywork, strong dose of CBR sporting intent & intense power, Honda's Make-in-India CBR650R will entice fun bikers of India like never before!"
