Honda patents XL750 Transalp in India; could launch soon

Japanese two-wheeler major Honda has said to have filed a patent for the XL750 Transalp in India. If it comes to the country, it will sit in the segment dominated by Triumph Tiger 900 and even the BMW F 850 GS - the XL750 Transalp's closest rivals. More importantly, the XL750 Transalp would also bridge the gap between the erstwhile CB500X and the CRF1100L to serve as a dual-sport motorcycle in Honda's adventure motorcycle portfolio. Notably, Honda brought back the middleweight adventure motorcycle to the world at the EICMA 2022 nearly after a decade. It was discontinued way back in 2008.

Honda XL750 Transalp: India prices
The XL750 Transalp could be priced between Rs 12-14 lakh. For reference, the prices of its closest rivals, such as the Tiger 900 and F 850 GS, start at Rs 13.70 lakh and Rs 12.95 lakh (both ex-showroom), respectively. Not to mention, Honda's 750cc adventure motorcycle would also fill the void between Kawasaki Versys 650 and Triumph Tiger Rally Pro since there are not a great many options for customers.

As a matter of fact, despite being a CKD unit, the CB500X was priced at 6.87 lakh (ex-showroom) when launched. However, the manufacturer had to slash its price by Rs 1.08 lakh. Likewise, the on-sale Africa Twin is costlier by a staggering Rs 2.5 lakh than its predecessor. Having said that, given Honda's history of exorbitantly pricing some of its products, it would be interesting to know how it prices the XL750 Transalp in India.

The XL750 Transalp draws inspiration from the previous Transalp models. It bears an upright stance and has typical Honda adv styling cues. In some international markets, the XL750 Translap come with three colours: Matte Ballistic Black Metallic, Ross White Tricolour, and Matte Iridium Gray Metallic.

Honda Big Wing future plans

In other news, Honda does not have an array of motorcycles in its Big Wing inventory for the Indian market. In fact, it did not launch new motorcycles due to the uncertainty about the OBD2 emission norms. However, since the bike maker has clarity about the strict emission regulations, it now plans to launch new offerings under its Big Wing brand.
