Honda's new EV brand 'Ye' unveil 3 new cars for the Chinese market
Honda unveiled a new EV brand named Ye for the Chinese market, and three of these vehicles will be showcased at the Beijing Motor Show next week. The carmaker showcased the P7 and S7 crossovers, which will be available by the end of 2024, as well as the GT Concept, which shows off a sleek, low-slung vehicle due to debut in late 2025.
The first two models to arrive will be the Ye P7 and Ye S7. The duo will drive on a newly built EV platform that comes in single-motor, rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor, all-wheel-drive. Exact specifications and range will be revealed at a later date.
The rear-wheel drive variant is expected to provide sporty and snappy driving, but the all-wheel drive version will bring high power and very responsive handling.
According to Honda, "Ye" translates to "shine" in Chinese, representing the series' emphasis on the "joy of driving and individuality". These vehicles use the streamlined and frameless H symbol, which was particularly intended for Honda's next-generation EVs.
The photographs show the two EVs from just a few perspectives, with comparable outlines. Both EVs include black pillars, flush door handles, mirror-replacing cameras, and sharp wheel arches. Nonetheless, significant contrasts emerge in their front and back designs. The Ye S7 is more angular and striking than the P7.
No cabin photographs were revealed, although Honda did state that both cars had a large interior due to the lack of a typical powerplant. Furthermore, it boasts several LED lights on the instrument panel and door panels that vary in response to AI-powered help and other tasks.
The Japanese brand also intends to develop future production vehicles based on the Ye GT Concept. The Ye GT Concept follows a similar design language, although in a leaner, lower-slung form. This large tourer has upmarket LED lighting, sophisticated stylistic cues, and a beautifully sloping roofline in the back.
