Hyundai Creta EV to launch in January 2025

Hyundai Motors India has confirmed that the Creta EV will be launched in India in January 2025. Tata Motors currently leads the EV market, with MG Motors and Mahindra running behind them. Hyundai is anticipated to enter the competition shortly with the Creta EV and will aim to capture a chunk of that market share. We have seen a couple of shy shots of the Creta EV on public roads and here's a few details we know so far.

Hyundai Creta EV: Design

The pictures of the Hyundai Creta EV test mule suggest it could carry over the same headlights, daytime driving lights, and taillights as the on-sale Creta. In fact, the overall profile is also likely to be the same. However, there are expected to be some distinctive styling elements, such as a blanked-off grille with an integrated charging port, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and new aerodynamically optimised alloy wheels. Additionally, the front bumper will house sensors for the advanced driver assistance systems.

Hyundai Creta EV: Interior

Similar to the exterior design, we expect the Hyundai Creta EV to share its interior layout with the petrol-powered Creta. But the South Korean carmaker may rework the dashboard and centre console. Going by the pictures, there could be a new steering wheel, too.

Other key highlights may include a 10.25-inch all-digital driver display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, auto-dimming IRVM with telematics, powered driver's seat, a Bose sound system, electronic parking brake with auto hold, ventilated seats, wireless charging pad, dual-zone temperature control, a panoramic sunroof, cooled glove box, and rear sunblind, among others.

Hyundai Creta EV: Features

The brand is expected to equip the Creta EV with a 360-degree camera, level 2 autonomy, six or more airbags, traction control, hill hold control, hill descent control, TPMS, front parking sensors, drive modes, ambient lighting, rear-seat headrest cushions, and connected car tech.

Hyundai Creta EV: Battery, Range & Charging

The upcoming Creta EV is likely to come fitted with a battery pack of around 45kWh paired with a single electric motor, which may produce north of 135PS and 250Nm of torque. Notably, this setup should provide a range of over 400km. Further, the electric SUV is expected to support up to 11kW AC and up to 80kW DC charging standards.

Upon launch, it will compete against the MG ZS EV along with several upcoming electric SUVs, such as the Tata Curvv EV, Tata Harrier EV, and Maruti Suzuki eVX.
