The mid-size SUV segment is dominated by the Hyundai Creta and now it gets a new edition to its huge portfolio in the form of the Hyundai Creta Knight Edition. Tata's candidate in the mid-size SUV segment, the Tata Harrier always had the Dark Editon as its special edition vehicle. Let's see how these cars stack up against each other.
As the name suggests, the Tata Harrier in its Dark Edition gets an Atlas Black colour and the 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels get the black finish as well. The Tata looks a lot chunkier than the Creta and does have a more commanding road presence.
The Hyundai Creta Knight Edition gets gloss black and red inserts in the tradition as well as gloss black finish to the front and rear skid plates, C-pillar, side sill, roof rails, route mirrors, shark-fin antenna and tail-lamp inserts. Rounding off the outside changes are a special Knight Edition badge, dark badging and black alloy wheels(S Plus: 16-inch, SX(O): 17-inch) with red brake callipers.

Mechanically, the Tata Harrier stays the same. A 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine producing 170PS is still on offer. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Knight Edition is available with the base 1.5-litre N/A petrol that makes 115PS and 144 Nm, pairing with a 5-speed manual in the S Plus and a CVT in the SX(O). The 1.5-litre diesel is also available with the dark package, making 115PS and 250 Nm. This pairs with a six-speed manual in the S Plus and 6AT in the SX(O).

The Dark Theme in the Tata Harrier is extended on the dashboard as well and gets gunmetal grey chrome highlights. Other than that, the Harrier gets an 8.8-inch floating infotainment system that dominates the dashboard which has a wood-finished insert running across it. The features list of the Harrier includes an eight-way adjustable driver seat with a four-way adjustable co-driver seat, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, electric ORVMs, cooled storage box, an electric sunroof, and many practical storage places all around.
On the inside, the Hyundai Creta Knight Edtion gets an all-black cabin with contrasting AC vents and contrasting stitching on the steering wheel and upholstery. Standard on both variants is the panoramic sunroof. The Creta also gets wireless charging, paddle shifters, metal pedals, auto-folding ORVMs, auto up/down feature for the power windows, electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management (VSM), and hill start assist.

From the base petrol S Plus manual, prices for the Hyundai Creta Knight Edition go up to Rs 18.18 lakh for the diesel AT SX(O). The petrol CVT SX(O) costs Rs 17.22 lakh while the base diesel S Plus manual Knight Edition is priced at Rs 17.22 lakh. The Tata Harrier Dark Edition range starts from Rs 17,06 lakh onwards.
