Hyundai India completes 25 years in the country
Hyundai India laid it's foundation in 1996 at Irungattukkottai in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. And since then the company has come a long way from its debut offering, the Santro. The Indian facility was the company's first ever integrated car manufacturing plant outside Korea.
Among the highlights in Hyundai journey in India, the company has sold more than 9 million units, invested over $4 billion, established 1,154 total sales outlets, 1,298 service outlets and have been exporting to 88 countries.
In addition to crossing the 3 million vehicle export milestone last year, Hyundai was also the first company to launch fully electric SUV, the Kona along with country's first connected SUV, the Venue. Additionally, Hyundai was the first to launch an online retail program Click to Buy and was also the first to launch iMT clutchless manual transmission.
