Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT is an EV you'd want to take off-road

Hyundai has achieved major global success with the Ioniq 5 being one of the more sought-after EVs. Banking on that winning formula, Hyundai has now unveiled the new Ioniq 5 XRT, an off-road-enhanced version of the popular car with bigger suspension and all-terrain tyres. The XRT will be manufactured at the new Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) facility in Georgia, USA.

The Ioniq 5 XRT is distinguished by its distinctive 18-inch black-painted wheels and unique fascia designs that enhance approach and departure angles. Moreover, 235/60-size all-terrain tyres and a 23mm suspension raise are fitted. The XRT variant has an approach angle of 19.8 degrees and a departure angle of 30.0 degrees.

Dark-toned plastic bumpers and underbody cladding with a unique digital camouflage pattern are standout characteristics. The front is embellished with two red towing hooks and other black decorations. Two special colours are available for the XRT variant: Cosmic Blue Pearl and Ultimate Red.

The dual-motor drivetrain and long-range battery are standard on the new, tough XRT variant. The overall output of this setup is 321PS and 605Nm. With the bigger 84kWh battery pack, you can drive up to 450 km on a single charge, which improves the electric range.

The inclusion of Tesla's NACS charging connector, which enables owners to easily access more than 17,000 Tesla Supercharger DC fast-charging locations across North America, is another significant modification. However, it's possible that this capability may just be available in the US, leaving the Type 2 plug in place in other countries.

The inside of the XRT has distinctive H-Tex upholstery and headrest embroidered XRT lettering. All-weather floor mats and a black headliner are two more XRT-only niceties.
