Hyundai Motors India launches 'Samarth', an initiative to support people with disability in India
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has launched the 'Samarth' program in India to raise awareness and allow persons with disabilities. The program is consistent with Hyundai's worldwide goal of 'Progress for Humanity,' which aspires to create a more inclusive and progressive society via the power of mobility. Hyundai's effort seeks to assist in establishing a more conscious and sensitive society in India toward individuals with disabilities.
With around 26.8 million differently-abled people in India (according to the 2011 census), Hyundai saw the need to raise disability awareness in society. Hyundai will collaborate with NGOs and media networks to develop a popular movement, while also aligning Hyundai businesses and networks to become more inclusive. 'Samarth' strives to make the globe a fair playing field for everybody through technology, collaborations, product innovations, and storytelling.
Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), in collaboration with GoSports Foundation, is launching a unique initiative to give comprehensive assistance to para-athletes in India. HMIF is also collaborating with Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled to provide assistive equipment to differently-abled folks. In addition, HMIF and Samarthanam will design a program that will use blind cricket as a platform to promote the physical and social development of the visually impaired in India.
Hyundai has also committed to making its physical networks accessible and hospitable to individuals with impairments. The dealership renovations will improve the entire customer experience. By February 2024, Hyundai Motors India hopes to have 100 percent of dealerships and workshops accessible to people with disabilities.
Commenting on the launch of 'Samarth' initiative, Un Soo Kim, MD & CEO, HMIL said, "We don't just make cars but also believe in empowering India, and to empower India, we undertake social initiatives under the pillars of- Earth, Mobility and Hope. These are aligned with Hyundai's global vision of 'Continue' and propagate 'Progress for Humanity'. Samarth is a manifestation of this belief. We are pleased to announce the launch of 'Samarth' initiative, which is a step towards creating a more aware and inclusive society towards differently abled in India.
