Hyundai Motors India standardizes 3-point seatbelt and seat belt reminder for all seats
Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) has announced that it has standardized the 3-point seatbelt and seat belt reminder for all seats across all models.
Hyundai's current Indian portfolio consists of The Grand i10 Nios, Aura, i20, i20 N-Line, Venue, Venue N-Line, Creta, Alcazar, Tucson and 2 electric offerings in the form of the Kona and Ioniq-5. All variants of these cars will get these newly added safety features.
These safety measures were announced ahead of the October 2023 deadline for all cars to come standard with 6-airbags and 3-point seatbelts. The government's new regulation is pushing for better safety requirements for automobiles in India, including a uniform crash test rating for all vehicles sold.
Currently, only the Tucson, Alcazar, Creta, Verna, Kona and Ioniq-5 are offered with 6-airbags as standard. The remaining vehicles are only offered with 4-airbags unless you opt for the to-trim which does get the benefit of those 2 additional airbags.
Even the Hyundai Smart Sense Level-2 ADAS features have been extended from just the Hyundai Tucson SUV to the Ioniq-5 and the newly launched Hyundai Verna sedan. Hyundai claims that it will further extend this feature to its other models as well.
Next up from Hyundai is the new micro SUV, the Hyundai Exter, which is has been spied testing in South Korea and will be coming to India later this year to rival the Tata Punch and Citroen C3
