Hyundai Motors’ vehicle test centre opens at the Nürburgring
Earlier this year, Hyundai had announced plans of setting up a new test facility at the legendary Nürburgring circuit. The Korean company is all set to complete construction of the test centre by August. The 5.5 million Euros which have been invested in this facility will help Hyundai increase the capacity for vehicle testing. Hyundai's Nürburgring facility covers four floors and will have 3622 square meters of area. A VIP hospitality area, new workshops and office space will be part of the facility. Hyundai already has an R&D centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany which caters to the European market. The new Nürburgring testing facility will help Hyundai complete a larger assessment of cars each year including the 'accelerated durability test' which simulates 180,000km of severe driving conditions in just a matter of weeks. More than 11 vehicles will complete their accelerated durability test during 2013 in the Nürburgring facility. They will also be assessed for their suspension, steering as also ride and handling characteristics.
Allan Rushforth, senior vice president and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe, commented: "Quality is one of Hyundai's core values and it is key to achieving customer satisfaction. The Nürburgring is the ultimate location to test vehicle durability, and we're able to apply what we learn there to all of our vehicle development projects. Our new facility will increase our testing capacity, bringing direct benefits to our customers in terms of vehicle quality and performance."
