Hyundai reveals radically designed Santa Fe
Hyundai Motor Company has taken wraps of the fifth generation Santa Fe ahead of its official global debut in August 2023. It bears a radically designed exterior, a fresh cabin that uses sustainable and recycled materials, and a large boot. Notably, this is the first complete overhaul for the SUV since 2018.
On the outside, the new generation Santa Fe features a boxy design. Hyundai's design boss says that "The all-new Santa Fe is an SUV that finds a perfect balance between city life and the great outdoors, handling everything from busy family itineraries to car camping adventures." The key design highlights of the SUV include an upright front end, H-shaped daytime running lights, a slim grille divided by a light bar, chunky wheel arches, straight shoulder lines and slightly sloping roofline, H-shaped taillights, and a large set of 21-inch alloy wheels.
Meanwhile, Hyundai has already used the signature H-shaped motif lights on the recently launched Exter. This new design philosophy might also be introduced on the future offerings from the brands, especially SUVs.
2024 Hyundai Santa Fe: Interior
Inside, the Santa Fe bears a minimalist and modern look. However, its steering wheel and centre console are quite reminiscent of a Land Rover. Hyundai has used a variety of sustainable and recycled materials to make the upholstery. For reference, the suede headliner, car mats, and second- and third-row seatbacks are made from recycled plastic, whereas door trim covers and crash pad use eco-friendly leatherette. Further, it gets a curved panel comprising a 12.3-inch driver display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Interestingly, there are two wireless charging pads in the front. The all-new Santa Fe will also be available in a three-row seating layout.
After the radical design, Hyundai has emphasised the boot space of the new Santa Fe. The carmaker says that "the all-new Santa Fe's interior offers generous living space for an effortless outdoor lifestyle. The more accommodating tailgate creates a spacious interior with a terrace-like feel at the rear when open." The second- and third-row seats are full foldable but Hyundai has not disclosed its boot space.
2024 Hyundai Santa Fe: Powertrain
The engine specifications are unavailable at the moment, but going by the 2.5T badge on the model, the new Santa Fe could continue with its 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Hyundai is also likely to offer more different powertrain options, such as hybrid and plug-in hybrid at the market launch.
