Hyundai Stargazer makes global debut and expected to come to India later
The Stargazer MPV from Hyundai has been unveiled in Indonesia. In India, Hyundai's spin on the Kia Carens is the Stargazer. Given that the Carens and Stargazer are built on the same chassis, it is likely that Hyundai will export the new MPV to India.
Similar to the new, Hyundai's MPV features a beautiful cab-forward shape with plenty of sharp creases and squared-off wheel arches.
Full-width horizontal LED DRLs are installed across the bonnet line on the Stargazer's front fascia, which takes design cues from its older brother, the Staria. A front grille with a rectangular design is located farther down, and it is flanked by vertically positioned LED headlights. The Stargazer's rear is equipped with vertical tail lamps and a light stripe that looks like an 'H'.
Hyundai Stargazer: EngineThe 1.5-litre, 115PS, naturally aspirated petrol engine that powers the Stargazer in Indonesia is mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT. Hyundai may install the 115PS, 1.5-liter diesel and 140PS, 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engines from the Carens in the Stargazer if it makes it to India. Both have a 6-speed manual transmission, however, the turbo-petrol has a 7-speed DCT and the diesel has a 6-speed AT.
Compared to its unconventional look, the Stargazer's layered dashboard design is far more plain and understated. A floating touchscreen infotainment system is provided, while the Carens' digital driver's display is carried over. Similar to the Carens, there are two seating options: a 6-seater with captain seats or a 7-seater with bench seats for those in the middle row.
The Stargazer is equipped with a wireless phone charger, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, linked technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automated temperature control, cruise control, keyless entry with push button start, and ambient lighting.
Multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and parking sensors all contribute to passenger safety. Additionally, it receives a few ADAS capabilities, including rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, front collision avoidance, blind-spot collision avoidance and lane-keeping assistance.
Hyundai Stargazer: India debutHyundai could think about introducing the Stargazer in India given that the Carens' base and engine selections are tailored for the local market. If it is released, we anticipate that it would start at about Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
