This is the Benelli Leoncino that should go into production in the second half of 2016. DSK-Benelli are considering bringing it to India. The Leoncino was revealed at the EICMA show in Milan in November 2015. The motorcycle shares its 496cc parallel twin cylinder engine with the TRK 502 adventure tourer which is also scheduled for production late in 2016 and likely to come to India. Expect the 47.6PS motorcycle, styled like a sweet retro-scrambler to make an appearance at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. And now, here are some images of one of the nicest looking Benellis of all.

Scramblers are the new hipster rage and Benelli intends to capitalise on it with this spartan but carefully designed motorcycle, the Leoncino

The Leoncio's engine is a brand-new liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 496cc parallel twin that makes 47.6PS. The engine is to be shared with the TRK 502 adventure tourer

Like we expect from any Italian motorcycle, the Benelli Leoncino is packed full of pleasing little details. This one has lovely LED indicators and a whimsical daytime running lamp

The wee lion cub (that's what Leoncino means) on the front fender is a quirky detail. Not sure you can park the bike on Indian streets without someone trying to take the wee lion cub right off

Of course, the Benelli Leoncino has knobbly tyres. Will the final version also have them? Expect a switch to a more road-biased big block pattern tyres sort of like the tyres the Ducati Scrambler wears

Like the Ducati Scrambler, the Benelli Leoncino also had a spartan rear-end. Unlike the Ducati, we hope the production Leoncino adds bungee points and other elements that boost the everyday practicality of the motorcycle

The Leoncino badge is a good one from Benelli's history. We hope local assembly and recent engineering make the Benelli as great as it promises to be when it comes to India end 2016
