Image gallery: 2017 Honda Cliq
Honda's latest scooter is called the Cliq. The new 110cc scooter is based off the proven Activa platform and even uses the same engine. The engine has the same state of tune - 8PS/8.49Nm. HMSI says that this scooter will appeal more to the rural masses, with its chunky-looking Ceat tyres, unique and somewhat rugged looking styling. The scooter also a tubular black grab rail. HMSI is currently offering the scooter in two trims - Standard (Rs 42,499) and Graphic (Rs 42,999), ex-Delhi. The Honda Cliq looks very distinct than what we get in the Indian scooter market
While the black and blue in the image above are the two colour options on offer, the remaining two are shown in this photograph. You pay Rs 500 extra for the Graphic trim
These tyres (there is a choice between MRF and CEAT) offer a block tread and HMSI says that these will offer better grip on patchy surfaces and will also be durable
The front apron though not your usual fare also has some interesting design elements
The side body has a round element similar to what we have seen on the Navi. This looks entirely cosmetic but is part of the chunky looks of the scooter
The handle bars are also placed uniquely and from this angle, it looks like the scooter has a motorcycle-like semi-fairing
The switchgear is pretty basic and includes the high and low beam click switch, horn and turn indicators
The right side of the handle bar gets the electric start button
The meters too are a simple affair with just a speedo, odo and fuel gauge
The end-can has been borrowed from the Activa and you can also the monoshock suspension
Honda says that the seat is longer and wider than its other scooter offerings. Note the black tubular grab rail
The tail piece and stalk indicators are more like a motorcycle
