Hyundai India has debuted a new gearbox option, the Intelligent Manual Transmission(iMT), on its best-selling Hyundai Venue. Along with this, Hyundai has also introduced a new Sport visual package for the Venue. This is not unique to the iMT, but can also be had with the DCT gearbox option and the diesel manual. The iMT however can only be optioned with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol.
In the turbo-petrol and iMT drivetrain, the Sport trim's prices start at Rs 10.20 lakh for the SX trim, going up to Rs 11.21 lakh for the SX(O). This new variant will come in the SX+ trim level with the turbo-petrol and DCT gearbox option, priced at Rs 11.58 lakh. With the diesel manual, the Sport SX trim costs Rs 10.30 lakh, while the SX(O) comes in at Rs 11.52 lakh.
Notable feature additions to the Sport trim are dual-tone paint, Sport emblem, red brake callipers, gloss-finish front grille with red inserts, grey bumper garnish, grey roof-rail with red inserts and red inserts on wheel arches and side moulding. The interiors come with new steering with red-stitching, metal-finished pedals, grey upholstery with red stitching and red accents on dashboard knobs. The Sport trim with DCT also gets paddle shifters.
The 2020 Hyundai Venue Sport comes in with a new Titan Grey with Phantom Black roof option, along with the white-black combination already available.
The iMT is different from the AMT gearboxes already offered by numerous manufacturers in India. An iMT does away with the clutch like in an AMT, but the driver still needs to manually change gears. The idea is to provide both, the engagement of a manual and the convenience of an automatic. The upcoming Kia Sonet, closely related to the Venue will also get an iMT option.
