India-spec fourth-gen Hyundai Tucson to be unveiled on July 13
The fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson is set to be unveiled in India on July 13, ahead of its launch later in July or early August. This generation of the Hyundai Tucson was one of the first to get Hyundai's newest design themes that have inspired the Alcazar and the facelifted Venue but its launch had been delayed by the recent global supply chain disruptions and the pandemic before it.
2022 Hyundai Tucson exterior, dimensionsThe fourth-gen Hyundai Tucson has become 20mm longer and 15mm wider than its predecessor but more apparent is the eye-catching new design theme it carries. The Tucson is based on the Parametric Dynamics that is being rolled out across Hyundai's cars. This is seen with the SUV's quite striking face with the large grille and the integrated LED DRLs as well as the split headlamp design.
The bodywork is accentuated by sharp creases and cuts. This look also translates into the tauter glasshouse along the side. At the rear, this geometric theme continues with the fanged LED tail lamps and the intricate bumpers.
2022 Hyundai Tucson interiors, featuresThe interiors of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson are a big departure too. There is a flowing, waterfall-like effect with the layer dash fascia and the seamless AC vents. This drops down into a floating centre stack and a wide centre console. Notable features are the 10.25-inch touchscreen, the free-standing 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a drive-by-wire button-operated gear selector. There should be a panoramic sunroof, two-or-three zone climate control, ventilated seats, a diffused airflow system, air purifier, connected tech and more.
It is also likely that the Tucson will come with a suite of advanced driver's assistance systems as well as a plethora of passive safety features like eight airbags, ESC and so on. The Tucson's wheelbase has grown by 10mm while the rear legroom has increased by 26mm.
2022 Hyundai Tucson engines, specificationsThe new-gen 2022 Tucson should continue with a similar set of engines as the current model, although with improvements to efficiency and performance. Expect to see a 2.0-litre diesel with 186PS and 417 Nm and 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol with 156PS and 192 Nm.
Both should pair with an eight-speed automatic and come with the H-Trac AWD system in the higher trims. We also hope Hyundai offers adaptive dampers in Tucson as available internationally.
2022 Hyundai Tucson expected price, launch date, rivalsThe 2022 Hyundai Tucson should launch in India before the festive season. Prices should start from about Rs 24 lakh and the Hyundai SUV should comets with cars like the VW Tiguan, Jeep Compass and Citroen C5 Aircross.
