India-specific Renault Lodgy unveiled
We reported earlier that the Lodgy is going to be launched in India soon. Confirming the same - Renault has released an image showing the Indian version of its offering. This is the company's first attempt at the MPV segment in India and from the looks of it, the global Dacia version seems to have evolved into the Lodgy. The Innova has been leading this segment. Other offerings like the Ertiga, Mobilio and now the Lodgy are going to be competing at lower price points, thereby giving customers more options.
Based on the Logan's platform, the Lodgy measures 4,498mm in length and is said to have the most spacious interiors offered in the segment. The dashboard seems utilitarian where function overcomes form with an expected bump in quality for the Indian market. It will be powered by the familiar 1.5K9K diesel engine and the petrol engine has been given a miss for now. However, the diesel engine will be offered in the 85PS and 110PS guise. Renault is said to have localised the Lodgy to price it competitively - with sales beginning early 2015.
We will be driving the MPV soon. Keep watching this space for more.
Innovation has been the hallmark of Renault throughout its 116 years of car-making history. For Renault, innovation means introducing features and services that are people centric, addressing real customer needs. Renault holds the distinction of being the inventor of the MPV, with the Renault Espace launched in Europe three decades ago, and its expertise will be reflected in its new product offering for India: An MPV called "The Renault Lodgy". Renault Lodgy will redefine the segment as a complete "Multi-Purpose Vehicle" and deliver best in segment performance. Renault is taking major steps to increase its presence in India and will be entering the volume and growth segments to strengthen its position. | |
