Intermot 2016: Details on the new-gen KTM 390 Duke

A lot of information on the new KTM 390 Duke is already mention here and here, and the new motorcycle is expected to see the light of day shortly at EICMA in Milan. Here's a quick summary of what we know.

The engine is expected to be a significant evolution of the current one. It will meet Euro IV, but it is unclear if a separate Indian-spec engine tune is being made or not. It will have ride-by-wire, but if India gets a different specification and engine tune, then expect the Indian Dukes to continue to use regular throttle cables. The engine will make more power, our guess, to offset a slight weight gain while improving rideability as well as refinement levels. This extra power might come from a modest increase in displacement rather than through a higher compression ratio or other method to extract more power.

The chassis on the prototypes spotted looks very similar to the current one, and once again KTM is expected to show a significant evolution but not an all-new frame. Expect new suspension tuning (again, India gets a slightly different spec) as well as updated brakes. We are expecting a slightly less aggressive steering geometry for a more controlled, less frantic feel overall.

The design is expected to take the same path as the SuperDuke with skimpier brightwork and more aggressive lines. Also new will be the LED headlamps that are rapidly proliferating across the KTM range - all the Adventures revealed at Intermot have them.
