Intermot 2016: India-bound 2017 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 unveiled

At the ongoing Intermot international show, Suzuki has unveiled the updated V-Strom. Although it retains most of the mechanicals from the previous version, the 2017 model is offered in two versions, the V-Strom 1000 and the new V-Strom 1000 XT with more off-road biased features.

It has retained the same 1,037cc V-trim motor for the V-Strom but has been updated to meet the Euro-IV emissions. Suzuki states that the new V-Strom gets design cues inspired by the adventure bikes of the late '80s. Both the bikes, regular and XT, get handguard and engine protection plate as standard. As a part of the new update, it gets a re-positioned windscreen that sits 9mm higher and comes with height and tilt angle adjustment.

In terms of safety, the adventure tourer comes equipped with cornering ABS which activates when the motorcycle is leaning at a particular angle. The 2017 Suzuki V-Strom also comes with a 'low rpm assist' feature which raises engine rpm in starting and low rpm range. It also comes with one-push engine starter that cranks the motor faster than the regular version.

Suzuki also showcased the V-Strom 650 and the new V-Strom 650 XT at the event. Powered by the same 650cc motor which is also seen on the SV650, the mid-sized offering also comes with the same set of features seen on the 1,000cc offerings. The wire-spoke wheel equipped V-Strom 650XT has standard equipment of knuckle covers and under cowling.
