Intermot 2016: Suzuki showcases India-bound 2017 GSX-R1000
The all-new supersport GSX-R1000 debuted at the 2016 Intermot show that is happening in Cologne. The all-new 2017 GSX-R1000 gets a newly developed 1000cc motor that meets the new Euro 4 emission standards. This motor makes 202 PS at 13,200 rpm and generates 117.6Nm at 10,800rpm. The superbike is now based on a new frame with reduced width for improved aerodynamics and is also 10 per cent lighter than the previous offering. The Japanese superbike manufacturer stated that this is the first time in eight years, the GSX series is getting a comprehensive update incorporating the technology used in MotoGP racing.
Suzuki also showcased the track centric GSX-R1000R which gets a launch control system (first Suzuki bike to get one), quick shift system and Showa balance free Front fork and balance free rear cushion lite.
In addition, the brand also displayed the GSX-R 125. While technical details of the compact sportsbike are yet to be announced, it is known that the GSX-R 125 will get ABS as standard and will also come equipped with Suzuki's easy start feature.
Suzuki might bring in the 2017 GSX-R1000 in India next year. We also believe that the GSX-R1000R will follow the same. The smaller offering GSX-R 125 is unlikely to arrive in India owing to its higher costs.
