Jaguar I-Pace discontinued for the Indian market

Jaguar Land Rover India has delisted the Jaguar I-Pace on its Indian website, meaning that now the only car Jaguar India retails is the F-Pace SUV. The I-Paces' last listed price was Rs 1.26 crore (ex-showroom).

The Jaguar I-Pace was launched in India in 2021 and was quite a hit of a product for the brand. It was one of the country's early luxury EVs and locked horns with the Audi e-tron and Mercedes EQC. It came with a 90kWh lithium-ion battery with two electric motors (one on each axle) and a claimed range of 470km according to WLTP. The electric motors were able to put down 400PS and 696Nm of torque.

One of the main reasons for the I-Pace being phased out is the phased out is the fact that its sale volumes were just crashing. The Audi Q8 e-tron took over from the success of the e-tron and is still in demand. Mercedes Benz India found no success with the EQC but then didn't wait too long to replace that with the EQE SUV and to add on to that they launched several other EVs as well like the EQB, EQS and now the EQA is on the cards soon. BMW who came late to this EV space are actually the most successful here with iX SUV being the star of the show.

As for the I-Pace, Jaguar never really gave the car an update to keep it up with standards. Yes, when the car was launched, there was a lot of talk about the car in terms of its looks, massive battery capacity and driving nature. Its unusual shape mounted for it being actually fun to drive which you can read all about here. The car even had a fantastic interior to speak for itself. But 3 years later, the car just wasn't good enough to keep up with its German rivals.

We're not quite sure if Jaguar has any plans to launch a new car in the country anytime soon. the F-Pace is still doing well for the brand and is priced at Rs 72.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in petrol and diesel guise.
