January 2012 issue out on stands
It's that time of the year. OVERDRIVE's 2012 resolution is to keep bringing you exciting stories all year long. And this is a resolution that we intend to stick to. To give you a sneak preview of what 2012 holds for readers of OVERDRIVE, we've gone all in and started with a colossal bang in January. The last time the Buddh International Circuit saw action was during the inaugural Indian Grand Prix. After that, it was our turn.
For the 2012 CNBC-TV18 OVERDRIVE Awards, we went to the BIC with some of India's best cars and bikes, where they burnt rubber at the hands of experts from Indian motorsport and the OVERDRIVE editorial team. The 2012 Track Attack had more than 5000PS of power flying around - Rs 16 crore worth metal, composites and abused tyres. All of that madness has translated into more than 60 thrilling pages. In this process we also became the first automobile magazine to drive at the BIC.
Additionally, we've got the first drive of the 2012 BMW 3 Series. The new 3 has more space, more features a meaner look and is ready to reclaim its throne, with an Indian debut scheduled for June 2012. Lexus too, is coming to India in 2013. Toyota have also gone ahead and refreshed India's favourite people mover âÂ" the Innova and the Fortuner also gets drawn into the family look.
The new Mercedes ML350 CDI gets driven by Bert. We also test the Skoda Rapid petrol automatic and the diesel. Fiat are also bringing in the new year by offering more features at the same price in their Linea and Punto models. We also take the Honda Brio to the Nawab's kitchen to taste some Hyderabadi biryani, coming back happy and burpy.
For those that swear by two wheels, we ride the hotly anticipated KTM Duke 200. With 25PS, a rev-happy engine, slick handling and an estimated Rs 1.2 - 1.5 lakh price tag, this KTM is sure to set the cat among the pigeons. Mahindra's Duro gets a new halogen head lamp and improved suspension. Of course, we also have our comprehensive motorsport coverage.
