Jeep Grand Cherokee bookings open, production begins in India ahead of launch
Jeep India has started accepting bookings for the fifth-gen Jeep Grand Cherokee ahead of its launch in late November. Production of the luxury SUV has begun at Stellantis' Ranjangaon facility near Pune and bookings can be made online or at certain Jeep dealerships.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee will get features like full leather upholstery, cabin noise cancelling, connected tech, a 10-inch HUD, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster as well as a 10.25-inch front passenger touchscreen. Other expected features are four-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, heated and cooled front seats, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof and second-row window shades.
A notable addition with the Grand Cherokee is the full suite of ADAS functions that will be available. These include forward collision warning, pedestrian emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, blind spot and cross path detection, passive pedestrian protection, drowsy driver detection, active lane management system, and intersection collision assist system. This should be accompanied with airbags, 360-degree cameras, TPMS and stability control.
India-spec Jeep Grand Cherokee engine, 4x4
The engine options for the Jeep Grand Cherokee haven't been revealed yet but expect it to get the 2.0-litre turbo petrol from the Jeep Wrangler with 268PS and 400 Nm, pairing with the 8-speed ZF torque converter. The Grand Cherokke will have quite bit of off-road kit expectedly and will feature the Quadra-Trac I 4x4 system along with terrain modes.
India-spec Jeep Grand Cherokee price, launch date, rivalsExpect the Jeep Grand Cherokee to be priced at around Rs 75 to 80 lakh when it launches in India by late November. The Grand Cherokee will cometes with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, Audi Q7, Volvo XC90 and Land Rover Defender.
