Jeep Grand Cherokee receives 5-star safety rating in Euro NCAP test
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee received the highest crash safety rating of five stars from the European testing organization, Euro NCAP.
The SUV received scores of 84 percent for adult occupants, 89 percent for child occupant protection, 81 percent for vulnerable road users, and 81 percent for safety assistance. The test vehicle has front, knee, and curtain airbags as well as a belt pre-tensioner with a load restriction, a seat belt reminder, and ISOFIX.
The Indian-spec Jeep Grand Cherokee gets a single engine option, the 2.0-litre turbo petrol from the Jeep Wrangler with 272PS and 400 Nm, pairing with the 8-speed ZF torque converter. The Grand Cherokee has quite a bit of off-road kit expectedly and will feature the Quadra-Trac I 4x4 system along with terrain modes.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee gets features like full leather upholstery, cabin noise cancelling, connected tech, a 10-inch HUD, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster as well as a 10.25-inch front passenger touchscreen. Also seen features are four-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, heated and cooled front seats, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof and second-row window shades.
The full suite of ADAS functions is a notable addition to the Grand Cherokee. These include forward collision warning, pedestrian emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, blind spot and cross path detection, passive pedestrian protection, drowsy driver detection, active lane management system, and intersection collision assist system. This should be accompanied with airbags, 360-degree cameras, TPMS, digital rear view mirror and stability control.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is priced at Rs 77.50 lakh.
