Jeep India unveils facelifted Wrangler; Meridian update set for later in 2024
Last year, Jeep updated its more-than-capable off-roader, the Wrangler for 2024 and the vehicle now gets more tech and features than before. Jeep India is now all set to launch the car in India on April 22. The brand has also confirmed that the Jeep Meridian facelift will debut later this year with a few features and cosmetic updates.
While the Wrangler is available in multiple variants globally, Jeep India will only be adding the Ynlimeted and Rubicon trims to its lineup. The face has been somewhat redesigned for 2024, but it retains the seven-slot grille for which Jeep Wranglers and Jeeps are generally known. It now has textured black slots, grey metallic bezels, and a body-colour surround.
The Jeep Wrangler facelift also gets a Gorilla Glass windshield as standard. Wheel sizes will range between 17 and 18 inches and customers will have five colour options: Firecracker Red, Sarge Green, Bright White, Black, and Anvil.
2024 Jeep Wrangler: PowertrainWhile in the United States, the Wrangler is available in 4, 6, or 8-cylinder engines, in India we will get the the same 2-litre turbo-petrol engine that was available in the outgoing car. This engine is good enough for 270PS and 400Nm of torque. It will come mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic and Jeep's Selec-Trac full-time 4WD system as standard.
The updated Wrangler also has a water-fording capacity of 864mm.
2024 Jeep Wrangler: Interior and FeaturesThe interior has been updated extensively with the new 12.3-inch landscape-oriented touchscreen display taking centre stage and it uses Jeep's Uconnect 5 system. The system will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features include 12-way power-adjustable front seats, a new semi-digital instrument cluster, a 552 W Alpine sound system, a noise cancellation system with 7 microphones and a lot more.
Safety features include 6 airbags as standard, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, electronic roll mitigation, a tyre pressure monitor, forward collision warning and rear parking sensors and camera.
2024 Jeep MeridianThe Jeep Meridian was first introduced in the country in 2022 and is based on the Jeep Compass but with the addition of a third row. Dimensionally the car will remain the same with the 2024 refresh, we anticipate visual external improvements as well as additional features. The update could see new features such as a front and rear dashcam, a bigger touchscreen and some ADAS features.
Jeep currently offers the Meridian in India with a single 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 170PS and 350Nm. This powertrain will continue to do duty in the updated car as well. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 9-speed torque converter automatic. 4WD is strictly restricted to the automatic variants though. The Meridian range currently starts from Rs 33.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
