Kawasaki Z650RS launched in India at Rs 6.65 lakh

Barely a month after launching the Z650RS in markets abroad, Kawasaki has launched the motorcycle in India at the price of Rs 6.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This makes the sublime-looking retro-styled bike around Rs 40,000 more expensive than the regular ol' Kawasaki Z650 streetbike.

The Kawasaki Z650RS takes its gorgeous retro styling cues from the bigger Kawasaki Z900RS, and as you would expect, there's a god amount of modern hardware under all that old-school garb.

The powering the Z650RS is the same reliable parallel-twin unit found in the latest Kawasaki Z650 and Kawasaki Ninja 650 bikes, albeit with some revisions that should make the new bike a lot livelier in terms of low- and mid-range response. Peak power figures are the same as before - 68PS and 64Nm. The Green Team have steered clear from altering the engine-chassis formula of the older 650 naked and sport tourer, and much of the underpinnings from those bikes being carried over onto the new retro-styled motorcycle as well.

Like it's the other 650 siblings from the green stable, suspension duties on the new Z650RS are managed by a 41mm fork up front and Kawasaki's horizontal link rear shock with pre-load adjustment. The Kawasaki Z650RS features the same size disc brakes as the older bikes as well - just that the new bike gets round disc rotors instead of the petal discs on the Z650 and Ninja 650. The bike also comes with two-channel ABS.

At its current price of Rs 6.65 lakh, the Z650RS undercuts its direct rival in the form of the Triumph Street Twin, which is priced at Rs 7.95 lakh by some fair margin.

Deliveries of this retro-style goodness on two wheels are expected to commence by the end of November or the start of December 2021.
