Kia Carens receives nationwide recall due to issue with software in the airbag
The Kia Carens sold in India have received a nationwide recall due to a potential software flaw in the airbag control module (ACU). Through the recall, Kia will look for any potential software flaws that may be fixed with the use of a no-charge software update. The brand will inform all Kia owners about this recall and provide them with the option to make an appointment whenever it's most convenient for them.
A total of 44,174 units of the MPV have been recalled to inspect and fix the potential error.
The airbags quickly deploy once the airbags get the signal from the ACU during a collision. In order to determine the accident's cause afterwards, it also saves crash-related data such as throttle position, engine speed, change in speed upon contact, and more.
The Carens' air bag control module software is being inspected as part of the voluntary recall effort, it was said. The business announced that it will speak with the owners of the affected vehicles individually to inform them of this voluntary recall effort.
The Kia Carens also comes with an impressive suite of safety features. Standard are six airbags, ESC, ABS, stability control, brake assist, all-wheel disc brakes, highline TPMS and rear parking sensors. Higher variants further get front parking sensors, real-time TPMS and a rear-view camera.
The 1.5-litre gasoline, 1.4-litre gasoline, and 1.5-litre diesel engines that power the Carens are coupled with 3 transmission options.
