Kia EV6 spotted testing in Hyderabad ahead of its launch

Kia India appears to be on the verge of launching its first electric car in the country. The Kia EV6 has already been offered in worldwide countries, and the electric crossover is now set to arrive in India after being spied testing in Hyderabad.

The Kia EV6 has dynamic proportions and a sporty crossover style. It boasts sleek triangle headlamps and a front end that aggressively slopes forward. The car's boot rises steeply at the back, shaped like an integrated spoiler and houses the linked taillights that span the width of the car and extend to the rear wheel arches.

The Hyundai Group's Electric-Global Modular Platform serves as the foundation for the Kia EV6 (E-GMP). It has two battery options: 58 kWh and 77.4 kWh, both of which are available in single and dual motor configurations.

The single electric motor version of the 58 kWh battery generates 170PS, while the dual-motor variant produces 235PS. The single-motor variant of the 77.4kWh battery has 225PS while the dual-motor version has 325PS.

It also has an 800V charging system with a 350kW rapid charging capability, allowing it to charge the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

The Kia EV6 features a sophisticated interior design that is familiar enough to make it comfortable to operate. The 12-inch digital driver's display and 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system are housed in an integrated dashboard. The climate controls are located below the central AC vents on a sleek, panoramic panel. It comes with a flat-bottomed two-spoke steering wheel with a sporty appearance.

Kia is expected to bring the Kia EV6 via the CBU route. It will still be priced between Rs 60 lakh and Rs 70 lakh, putting it below the premium category EVs (ex-showroom). The Volvo XC40 Recharge will be its closest competitor at launch, with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Tesla Model Y as possible competitors in the future.
