KTM 390 Adventure, 390 Scrambler spied testing
KTMâ¬â¢s upcoming motorcycles based on the 2017 KTM 390 Duke have just been spied testing. These two motorcycles look like a KTM 390 Adventure and a KTM 390 Scrambler. While talks of the development of a 390 Adventure model have been on since the first generation KTM 390 Duke was sold in the Indian market, the KTM 390 Scrambler comes as a bit of a surprise. The two motorcycles spotted testing appear to be test mules as they have a number of parts that look to be simply bolted on for the moment and not production-ready motorcycles. The stance on either motorcycle, however, is clearly that of a taller adventure bike as well as possibly a 19-inch front wheel with wire spokes.
The 390 Adventure is obviously in line with the design of the larger Adventure offerings from the KTM stable, with tiny windscreen replacing the Dakar-style fairing of the test mule spotted previously. It also appears more road focussed, and at the same time capable of being taken off the tarmac than the standard 390 Duke. The last report of the KTM 390 Adventure had revealed that it may not reach India before 2019, but these spy shots will give enthusiasts hope of an earlier entry into the country.
Meanwhile, the KTM 390 Scrambler looks to be a rework of the standard KTM 390 Duke, with a shared tank, tail-section and rear alloy wheel assembly. The front once again has a 19-inch wire-spoke wheel setup, but this time it looks have a more relaxed rake angle. The front also gets a floating mudguard and small dirt bike style headlamp. Both motorcycles look like they would be a hoot to take off road, given that they will feature the same mechanicals as the Duke and RC390. KTM may bring one or both of these models to EICMA 2017 next month. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
