Lamborghini Lanzador EV concept breaks cover

To mark its 60th anniversary, Italian supercar marque Lamborghini has taken the wraps off the all-new Lanzador concept at The Quail â€" A Motorsports Gathering. The Gran Turismo is the fourth all-electric model set for a market launch in 2028. Lamborghini says it is a blend of the flagship and high-performance Revuelto and the Urus SUV. The Lanzador concept also hints at the new direction of the firm in terms of design, performance, practicality, modern technology, and overall about its upcoming electric vehicles (EV) made from ground up.

While Lamborghini has not given details about the Lanzador's electric powertrain, it has revealed that the GT will deliver over one megawatt of peak power. The one megawatt of peak power, if converted, equals to somewhat 1,360PS. It will also come equipped with a dual-motor setup, one at each axle, making the Lanzador an all-wheel drive car. Additionally, the Gran Turismo will boast a new generation of high-performance battery pack.

The Lanzador features a sporty design language, which closely resembles the Urus, but it uses design elements taken from Sesto Elemento, Murcielago, and Countach LPI 800-4. Lamborghini says it draws inspiration from spaceships. However, unlike the other outlandish-looking EVs, it bears a conventional styling similar to an ICE vehicle. The key design highlight include an aggressive fascia, angular body panels, lights, and bumpers; a set of 23-inch wheels with a hexagonal-shaped design, a huge rear diffuser, slanted roofline, and familiar taillights. On the inside, the cockpit is reminiscent of a sci-fi film spaceship. It features a large driver display and another ultrawide co-passenger screen. Lamborghini has used sustainable and recycled materials for the 2+2 GT, without compromising the luxury look, quality, feel, and durability.

The Lanzador will come equipped with the newly developed Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) â€" a driving dynamics control system that has more sensors and actuators that claim to create a more precise and finer driving behaviour. In addition, it will boasts ALA (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva) system, comprising electronically controlled aero panels at the front and back, such as the new air blades. The company has already used this system on the Huracan Perfromante and Huracan SVJ. Other equipment include air suspension, active chassis, and rear-wheel steering.

"The Lanzador concept delivers on each of the elements that should define the first full-electric Lamborghini. It was important to uncover the first vision of the fourth model at The Quail event to share a glimpse into the future while surrounded by current Lamborghini models that represent 60 years of the company's DNA," said Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Automobili Lamborghini.
