Latest spy shots reveal fresh details of Tata Nexon facelift
Tata Nexon facelift has been spotted testing again in India. As a part of the mid-cycle facelift, it is set to receive a range of significant update in terms of design, features, and most importantly, engine and transmission. More to the point, the latest batch of spy pictures shows off the face of the updated SUV, hinting at a new design language. Notably, the refreshed Tata Nexon facelift is likely to make its debut during the most celebrated festivals in the country.
The upcoming Nexon facelift, as seen in the spy photographs, will feature an overhauled exterior, especially the front and rear end. The new spy pictures have revealed the Curvv concept-inspired fascia of the SUV. It gets a split front light setup, comprising a full length light bar and vertically stacked LED headlamps. If the spy shots are to go by, the headlamp units might house air curtains to improve aerodynamic efficiency. There is also a new radiator grille and a front bumper. At the back, the Nexon facelift is expected to come with a light bar running across its width, redesigned taillamps, and a new rear bumper. The update is also expected to bring a new set of alloy wheels.
Tata Nexon facelift: Interior and infotainment
Similar to the exterior, the interior of the Nexon facelift will feature significant changes in the form of a new steering wheel, re-profiled dashboard, a new fully digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a redesigned centre console with Range Rover-inspired gear stick, and probably new updated seats.
Tata Nexon facelift: Engine, transmission, and power outputsThe upcoming Nexon facelift is expected to be powered by a new 1.2-litre, inline three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that makes 125PS and 225Nm of torque. In comparison the current motor produces 120PS and 170Nm of torque. What is more important is Tata could pair it with a new dual-clutch automatic transmission. In fact, a Nexon facelift test mule with DCT tag has already been spied on multiple occasions. Apart from that, the 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder turbo-diesel will be retained with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Tata Nexon facelift: Prices and Rivals
We believe the upcoming Tata Nexon facelift is likely to command a higher premium over the on-sale model. The prices of the current Nexon range between Rs 7.80 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 14.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect the new prices to start at about Rs 8-8.50 lakh and go up to Rs 15-16 lakh. Once launched, the Nexon faceluft will take on the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Kia Sonet.
