Long-range Tata Nexon EV Max to get significant feature additions
Tata Motors recently revealed that the long-range electric Nexon will be called the Tata Nexon EV Max. Now through another teaser, ahead of the May 11 launch, it is apparent that aside from a larger battery, the Nexon EV Max will also get some notable new features, previously missed on the Nexon EV.
Tata Nexon EV Max new featuresThe teaser shows that the Tata Nexon EV Max will get a redesigned centre console. The rotary gear selector is now illuminated in a blue backlight and finally includes a Park mode for the car. There is also an electronic parking brake and an auto-hold function. A significant addition also seems to be the addition of two selectable regen modes.The Sport and Eco drive modes continue but get new switches beside the rotary gear controller.
There could also be a wider range of connected car functions as well as ventilated seats. The safety equipment should remain unchanged save for the addition of ESC. Aside from this, features from the current Tata Nexon EV should be carried over. These are a 7-inch touchscreen, RS16 alloy wheels, sunroof, climate control, a semi-digital instrument cluster and LED lighting.
Tata Nexon EV Max expected battery, range, chargingThe 2022 Tata Nexon EV Max is expected to get a larger battery pack which should be of over 40 kWh capacity. This should lead to an increase in the ARAI-rated range to over 400km from the current 30.2kWh unit's 312 km range.CHarging speeds should also increase both via DC fast charging and Type 2 AC.
A real-world range of around 300 km can be expected with the Nexon EV Max, up from the approx. 230 km of the current car. There should be a bump up in performance too, up from the current Nexon EV's 129PS/245 Nm.
Tata Nexon EV Max expected price, rivalsThe Tata Nexon EV Max should see a significant price rise of around Rs 3 to 4 lakh over the standard Nexon EV. The Nexon EV is priced between Rs 14.54 lakh and Rs 17.15 lakh. The new Tata EV will compete with the likes of the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric.
