Made-in-India Suzuki Fronx launched in South Africa
Japanese automaker Suzuki has introduced the made-in-India Fronx in South Africa. Maruti Suzuki manufactures the international-spec Fronx in India and exports that to the South African market. It offers the crossover in a choice of two variants, namely GL and GLX, across a single engine option. The Africa-spec Fronx also comes with a new special colour.
Powering the Fronx in South Africa is a 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol K15B engine producing 105PS and 138Nm of torque. Paired with the motor is a five-speed manual or a four-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
In comparison, The India-spec Fronx gets two engine choices: a 1.0-litre, inline three-cylinder, turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine generating 100PS and 148Nm of torque and a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated, Dual Jet, Dual VVT petrol motor that makes 90PS and 113Nm of torque. Transmission options include a five-speed AMT, a five-speed manual, and a six-speed automatic transmission.
The 1.2-litre unit has a mileage of 21.79kmpl and 22.89kmpl with a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT transmission, respectively. On the other hand, the turbocharged 1.0-litre engine returns 21.5kmpl with a five-speed manual gearbox and 20.01kmpl with a six-speed automatic transmission.
South Africa-spec Suzuki Fronx: Features
The Fronx gets features similar to the model available in India, such as LED headlights. a wireless charging pad, cruise control, an engine start/stop button, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a heads-up display, auto-dimming IRVM, a six-speaker sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in voice assistant, Suzuki Connect, 360deg camera, six airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, USB charging ports (Type-C and Type-A), and OTA updates.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Variants, Colour, and PricesIn India, the Fronx is available in five variants and 11 colour options, including three dual-tone shades. The prices of the Fronx start at Rs 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to 13.13 lakh (ex-showroom).
