Mahindra BE 6e: Design & Dimensions

Dimension-wise, the BE 6e measures 4371mm in length, 1907mm in width and 1627mm in height, and it has a wheelbase of 2775mm. Mahindra also claims it has a class-leading ground clearance of 207mm.

The BE 6e, which is a coupe SUV was revealed as the BE 05 concept a couple of years ago. The car doesn't look much different from the concept that we had seen though. Instead of the Mahindra twin peaks, the 6e boasts the BE illuminated logo to represent the fact that BE will be a new sub-brand from Mahindra.

The SUV's muscular yet streamlined front end has crisp lines and eye-catching LED headlamps surrounded by C-shaped LED DRLs.Mahindra has made good use of the space in between the headlight which would ideally be a grille to feed air into the engine of an ICE car by making it a channel to let airflow through the bonnet to boost efficiency.

From the side, the 20-inch aero-optimized wheels look stunning and while the front door handles sit flush with the door, the rear door handles are hidden away in the C-pillar. Similar C-shaped LED tail lights that span the height of the big tailgate are visible at the back, and the split roof-mounted spoilers give the vehicle a dynamic appearance.

Mahindra BE 6e: Powertrain

Two battery packs with an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry - a 59kWh and a 79kWh unit - will be available for the Mahindra BE 6e. It is supported by Mahindra's born-EV INGLO platform, which uses BYD's blade cell technology and is scalable and adaptable. The BE 6e's 79kWh battery pack has a WLTP-certified range of 550km.

The smaller battery pack produces a maximum of 231PS and 380Nm of torque. The larger pack produces the same amount of torque but the power figure is bumped up to 286PS. With a 175kWh DC fast charger, it can fast charge from 20 to 80 percent in 20 minutes and sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in a claimed 6.7 seconds. At the moment the car can only be had in RWD configuration.

Mahindra BE 6e: Interior & Features

Mahindra says that the SUV's cabin takes inspiration from fighter jets. The floating panel above the centre console defines the driver's cockpit, which gives the arrangement a futuristic feel. It has a sporty two-spoke octagonal steering wheel with an illuminated BE logo in the centre and a sleek black glass screen with integrated toggle buttons for ADAS and other features.

Two 12.3-inch floating displays running a new program named MAIA manage the instrumentation and entertainment tasks. Features include dual-zone climate control, drive modes, wireless phone charging, Dolby Atmos 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, ambient lighting, powered driver's seat, panoramic sunroof, connected car technology, 5G connectivity with in-built Wi-Fi, an AI (artificial intelligence) interface, 7-airbags, ADAS, a 360-degree and a lot more.
